George Saunders is an American writer of short stories, essays, novellas, children's books, and novels. He was born in Amarillo, Texas, in 1958. He received a B.S. from the Colorado School of Mines in 1981 and an M.F.A. from Syracuse University in 1988. He has published six short story collections, a novella, and a novel.
