Helen Fielding is an English novelist and screenwriter. She is best known for creating the character of Bridget Jones, and the series of novels and films that followed. Fielding was born in Morley, West Yorkshire, England in 1958. She studied English at St Anne's College, Oxford, and worked as a journalist for several years before writing her first novel, Cause Celeb (1994). Bridget Jones's Diary (1996) was a huge international success, and was followed by Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (1999) and Bridget Jones's Baby (2016). Fielding has also written a number of other novels, including Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination (2004) and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2013).
