Daniel Joseph Boorstin was an American historian, lawyer, and Librarian of Congress. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1914 and died in Washington, D.C., in 2004. He was a Rhodes Scholar and a graduate of Harvard Law School. He taught at the University of Chicago for many years and was the Librarian of Congress from 1975 to 1987. He was the author of many books, including "The Creators" and "The Discoverers." He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1974.
