Christopher Morley (1890-1957) was an American journalist, novelist, essayist, and poet.
He was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and attended Haverford College and Oxford University.
After graduating from Oxford, Morley worked as a publicist and publisher's reader for Doubleday.
He then began a career as a journalist, writing for the Ladies' Home Journal, the Philadelphia Evening Public Ledger, and the New York Evening Post.
Morley also wrote several novels, including Parnassus on Wheels (1917), The Haunted Bookshop (1919), and Kitty Foyle (1939).
He was a member of the Baker Street Irregulars, a Sherlock Holmes fan club, and he edited the 11th and 12th editions of Bartlett's Familiar Quotations.
Morley died in Roslyn, New York, in 1957.
