Chili Davis was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1960. He moved to the United States at age 10 and attended Susan Miller Dorsey High School in Los Angeles. Davis was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 11th round of the 1977 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut in 1981 and played for the Giants, Angels, Twins, Royals, and Yankees over 19 seasons. Davis was a three-time All-Star and won a World Series championship with the Giants in 1987. He retired from baseball in 1999 and has since worked as a hitting coach in the major leagues.
