Sidney Sheldon was an American writer, producer, and screenwriter. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1917. He began his career as a writer in Hollywood, where he wrote screenplays for films such as The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer (1947) and The Best Years of Our Lives (1946). He later moved into television, where he created and produced popular shows such as I Dream of Jeannie (1965–1970) and Hart to Hart (1979–1984). In the 1980s, he began writing best-selling novels, including The Other Side of Midnight (1973), Rage of Angels (1980), and Master of the Game (1982). He died in 2007 at the age of 89.
