Sheryl Sandberg is an American business executive, philanthropist, and author. She served as chief operating officer (COO) of Meta Platforms, formerly Facebook, from 2008 to 2022. She is also the founder of LeanIn.Org, a non-profit organization that works to empower women to achieve their full potential in the workplace.

Sandberg was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969. She graduated from Harvard University with a degree in economics and earned her MBA from Harvard Business School. She worked as an economist at the World Bank and as chief of staff to U.S. Treasury Secretary Larry Summers before joining Google in 2001. She joined Facebook in 2008.
