Sharon Creech is an American author of children's novels. She was born in South Euclid, Ohio, in 1945. She taught English for 15 years in England and Switzerland before becoming a full-time writer. She has written over 20 books, including Walk Two Moons, which won the Newbery Medal in 1995, and Ruby Holler, which won the Carnegie Medal in 2002. She is the first American author to win both of these awards.
