Alan Alexander Milne was an English author, best known for his children's books about Winnie-the-Pooh. He was also a playwright and journalist.

Milne was born in London in 1882. He attended Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge. After graduating, he worked as a journalist for Punch magazine.

In 1913, Milne married Daphne Waterfield. They had one son, Christopher Robin.

During World War I, Milne served in the British Army. After the war, he wrote several successful plays, including The Red House Mystery and The Truth About Blayds.

In 1926, Milne published his first book about Winnie-the-Pooh. The book was a huge success, and it spawned several sequels.

Milne continued to write until his death in 1956. He is best remembered for his Winnie-the-Pooh books, which have been translated into over 50 languages and have sold over 50 million copies worldwide.
