Peter Cameron is an American novelist and short-story writer. He was born in 1959 in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. He graduated from Hamilton College in 1982 and began publishing short stories in The New Yorker in 1983. His first book, a collection of short stories entitled One Way or Another, was published in 1986. His debut novel, Leap Year, was published in 1990. He has since published six more novels, including Andorra (2002), The City of Your Final Destination (2002), Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You (2007), The Weekend (2012), and What Happens at Night (2020).
