Paul Murray is an Irish novelist. He was born in Dublin in 1975 and studied English literature at Trinity College, Dublin, and subsequently completed his master's in creative writing at the University of East Anglia.

His first novel, An Evening of Long Goodbyes, was published in 2003 and was shortlisted for the Whitbread Prize and the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award. His second novel, Skippy Dies, was published in 2010 and was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, the Costa Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.

His third novel, The Mark and the Void, was published in 2015. He has also written a number of short stories and essays.

Murray is a regular contributor to The Irish Times and The Guardian. He lives in Dublin with his wife and two children.
