Annie Proulx is an American novelist, short story writer, and journalist. She has won numerous awards, including the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the PEN/Faulkner Award. Her work often focuses on the American West and its people.
Proulx was born in Norwich, Connecticut, in 1935. She attended Colby College and the University of Vermont, where she studied history and English. After graduating, she worked as a journalist and freelance writer.
