Eric Wright was born on May 4, 1929 in Kennington, London, England. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 and studied at the University of Manitoba and the University of Toronto. He taught English at Ryerson Polytechnic University from 1958 to 1989. He wrote 20 crime novels, including the Charlie Salter series. He won the Arthur Ellis Award four times. He died on October 9, 2015 in Ontario, Canada.
