Stephen Richards is an American musician, best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Taproot. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 16, 1977. Richards began playing guitar at the age of 12 and formed Taproot in 1997 with guitarist Mike DeWolf, bassist Paul Marshall, and drummer Jarrod Alexander. The band has released six studio albums, all of which have been certified gold or platinum by the RIAA. Richards is known for his powerful vocals and melodic guitar playing.
